Have you heard a chirping sound on Facebook? Well, you aren’t alone.
Many users have reported hearing a faint chirping sound coming from their cellphones while they scroll the app.
“Hearing a chirping noise while scrolling through your Facebook Feed on your iPhone? It’s not you, it’s us! And it’s an unfortunate technical error that we’re in the process of fixing,” said Meta communications director Andy Stone.
If you want the chirping sound to go away, Facebook’s help center has a step-by-step guide on how to turn it (and other in-app souns) off.
Step One: Tap the three horizontal lines in the bottom right of Facebook (above ‘Menu’)
Step Two: Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then tap Settings
Step Three: Scroll down to the Preferences section, then tap Media
Step Four: Tap the toggle button next to In-App Sound to turn it off, (it should go from blue to gray once you’ve turned it off)
Users will still be able to hear sound from videos if you turn In-App Sounds off.
Some users have reported the In-App Sound toggle is resetting itself back on after a day or so but, if it does, you can turn your cellphone on silent mode, until the glitch is fixed.
The glitch doesn’t seem to be affecting Android users.
