Sergeant Jay M Hoskins Detachment #1364 and Michelle Widner, Hoskins mom, presented Gibson Dyess the Jay Hoskins Memorial Scholarship on Wednesday.
To obtain this scholarship, students had to write an essay on what it means to sacrifice and serve.
Dyess wrote on true sacrifice; giving up the things you love for people you do not know.
After graduation, Dyess plans to attend Southern Arkansas University to pursue a degree in Biology/Pre-Health. While at SAU, he will be a member of their band.
Dyess is the son of Jason and Sheridie Dyess.
