Show your support for National Police Week and adopt an officer!
Fannin County Adopt-A-Cop has teamed up with Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop to host an ‘Adoption Drive’ for National Police Week.
“This adoption drive is a small token of appreciation for these officers who put their lives on the line every day for the citizens of Fannin County,” said event organizer Katie Dixon. “We have 76 officers in Fannin County and I know this community will come together to show their support and get these officers adopted.”
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. This year, National Police Week will be held May 12th – 18th.
“We are honored to be working with Amanda Willows who has done an amazing job for officers in Lamar County and know working together we can do some wonderful things.”
Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop hosted their adoption drive last week with all 144 officers being adopted in 10-hours.
“We are blessed with exceptional officers in both Fannin and Lamar Counties who risk their lives for us each and every day,” said Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop president Amanda Willows. “We are excited to help Fannin County Adopt-A-Cop.”
Adoptions will be $50 per officer and the gifts will be given to them during National Police Week in May.
“These bags will contain items that will help our officers while they’re on duty and help keep them safe,” said Dixon.
