Doris Jane Sheridan, surrounded by her family, left this earth on September 20, 2023 and walked into the arms of Jesus. Doris was born just west of Leonard on September 8, 1942 to Byrd and Melvia Burchfield, having lived 81 years and 12 days. Her family lived in Pilot Grove and then moved to Whitewright Texas where Doris would graduate Salutatorian of her high school class. Aside from being a scholar, she was a Flag Bearer and also loved and played basketball.

Doris loved Jesus and her life reflected Him as she sacrificed her life for her husband and her children, always putting them first. She served our Lord by singing in the choir and taught 2nd grade children in Sunday School for many years. She loved like Jesus and had a contagious smile that revealed her extraordinary love and compassion.
After moving to Paris in 1966, Doris worked at Ideal Bakery and later moved to Uarco where she retired after the company was sold. She took her accounting expertise to the Texas Department of Transportation where she would retire for good in 2005.
