Darrel Wayne Bennett, 67 of Paris, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, technical skill, and a deep connection to his Kansas roots.
Known for his tireless work ethic, Darrel spent several years contributing his talents to Underwood Body Shop and local feed yards. He was perhaps best known in the community for his mastery of mechanics; many will remember him for providing expert small engine repair right out of the back of Giffords. In his later years, he brought that same dedication to Kimberly-Clark, where he spent the last five years working as a hand packer.
Darrel is preceded in death by his father, Clyde A. Bennett; his mother, Fern Violet Koelsh Bennett; and his stepmother, Mary Jean Johnson Bennett. His memory will be cherished by his surviving family, sister, Rose Marie Brakhage and her husband, Loren, of Great Bend, KS.; nephews, Garry Lynn Gugins of Kinsley, KS. and Dean Allen Bennett of Salina, KS.; granddaughter, Miranda Potter of Paris, TX.; extended family; a large community of cousins in Larned, KS, and many friends throughout the region.
Darrel was a man who knew how to fix things and how to show up for his community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be Friday 17th @ 6:30 pm, at Evergreen Cemetery Open Air Chapel.
