Cooper resident, 35-year old Kody Whipple who plead guilty to the offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in late March, remains in the Delta County Jail awaiting transfer to TDCJ.
Whipple was arrested on Aug. 21, 2025, on Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child and several others charges.
“During this case, our investigator Samantha Manrique spent countless hours pouring over evidence and testimony to get this case ready to present to the district attorney’s office,” said Sheriff Marshall Lynch.
District Judge Eddie Northcutt presided over the sentencing hearing of Whipple after he pled guilty to the offense.
This carries a punishment range of 25 to 99 years or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
After reviewing evidence, which entailed years of horrific sexual and psychological abuse of his own children, judge Northcutt sentenced Whipple to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
The 8th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said, “We are grateful for the tireless work of the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, and in particular Investigator Samantha Manrique, whose dedication to this case helped ensure justice was served for these victims. We also thank Judge Northcutt for handing down a sentence that reflects the seriousness and lasting effect of these crimes.”
“This case represents the absolute worst kind of abuse – but it also highlights the best of what can happen when law enforcement, prosecutors, and the judiciary align in the pursuit of justice,” said Zachary Blackmon, Assistant District Attorney. “This case is a clear reminder that those who harm children will face the full force of the law here in Delta County. There is no place in our community for those who abuse the most vulnerable among us.”
