A brand new EMS station is now open on the northside of town and those who save lives every day couldn’t be more excited.

“Our northside station has been based at the hospital for the past 35+ years, so to have a brand new station is very exciting,” said B-Shift Supervisor Russell Thrasher.

The new 1,400 sq. ft. station, located at 2320 NW 19th St, will house two paramedics per shift with three teams rotating through there.

“The new location is still close to the loop which helps us with servicing the northside of town from FM 195 to 82W,” said Thrasher.

Construction on the new building began mid last year and Paris EMS were able to move just before the new year.

In addition to the new station, Paris EMS recently upgraded one of their ambulances.

“We get a new one each year,” said Thrasher. “They typically get replaced every seven years and average 225,000 to 275,000 miles.”

In 2018, Paris EMS responded to almost 9,000 calls for service.

“The new ambulance does have some more modern upgrades and this is our second vehicle that has the generator under the hood which is powered by the engine.”

Next Thursday, the public will get a chance to take a look inside the new building during their ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce.

On September 1st, Paris EMS will be celebrating 40-years since the City of Paris took over.
