In a time when police get so much scrutiny, we should be proud of the team representing Paris and Lamar County. This should be recognized as a distinguished effort provided by our community police force
A local business owner is praising police for their quick and professional response in recovering the approximately $7,000 worth of stolen items in 48 hours.
On July 10, Skyler Burchinal, owner of Plex Roofing and Construction, discovered the materials were stolen from his job site at Paris Housing Authority.
After speaking with Captain Thompson with the Paris Police Department, Burchinal said within minutes Officer Ayers arrived on the scene, took his report, and “professionally began to investigate further.”
“In a matter of 48 hours, I was contacted by the Paris Police Department and Joey McCarthy with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office to be reassured that they were continuing to diligently work the case and shortly after was notified of a lead that developed into the recovery of my property.”
Soon after, Burchinal met with Capt. Thompson, Detective Logsden, and Detective Bussell, at a location where they discovered his stolen material. Paris police officers Helms, Huff, and Ayers were also on scene.
“The aggressiveness and proactive police work resulted in the recovery of all of my property and serving local thieves justice. I would like to personally thank all officers involved and congratulate our community’s police and detectives for their proactivity and willingness to take the initiative to help protect our local citizens and businesses.”
Burchinal shared his experience with the City of Paris, commending both departments on their good work.
“I am in full agreement, the City of Paris and Lamar County are extremely fortunate to have the men and women who serve them in our local law enforcement agencies. I continued to be amazed at the hard work they do to keep our community safe,” said Paris City Manager Grayson Path.
