A suspect is on the run with an undetermined amount of cash after robbing CapTex, formerly First National Bank of Trenton, earlier Friday morning.

“We believe the suspect is a white male but that is all we know at this time,” said Captain Wendell Bockman with Bonham Police Department.

According to reports, the man followed a teller into the bank around 7:40 a.m. and instructed her to open the safe. Several more tellers were inside at the time and the man locked all of them in the bathroom using a chair propped up against the door handle.

“He taped the door handle to the chair cause the tellers to not be able to get out,” said Bockman. “He then helped himself to an undetermined amount of cash and left the bank.”

Bockman said the suspect is still at large and that as far as they are aware, there was no weapon involved.

Bonham Police Department, the FBI and Texas Rangers are on the scene investigating.
