An Austrian film company, Mischief Films, has been in Paris for the past week filming for their new series, Twin Towns.

“Twin Towns is a five-part series that explores small towns in the middle of nowhere that carry the name of a big place,” said Director Georg Misch.

European capitals have namesakes around the world: Paris is located in Texas, Berlin on the Eastern Cape in South Africa, London on Christmas Island, Roma in Sweden and Vienna in Wisconsin. Twin Towns is a series of mesmerizing voyages of discovery into these unequal twin cities, exploring stories and adventures far from the usual tourist attractions.

The TV series, set to air in 2019 on European channel ARTE, has taken the film crew all over the world including Sweden, South Africa and now Paris, Texas.

“The concept is to show fascinating stories from these towns,” added Georg.

Georg, along with his Director of Photography Daniel Samer, have visited many popular places in Paris including the Eiffel Tower, they spoke with the Paris Fire Department to discuss the 1916 Paris Fire and today stopped by The Grand in downtown Paris.

While at The Grand, they filmed the words “WENDERS PARIS, TEXAS” being placed on the marquee in reference to the 1984 film, Paris Texas.

“We thought bringing The Grand back to life was going to be a domestic excitement but now it is international,” said Paris Grand Theatre Project team member Julia Trigg Crawford. “It was very exciting to have them film here today.”

The film crew will return to The Grand to continue filming tomorrow before leaving Wednesday.
