The Pink Moon, 2021’s first supermoon of the year, will light up tonight’s sky.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, this year’s Pink Moon’s peak will be at about 11:33 p.m.
“For the best view of this lovely spring Moon, find an open area and watch as the Moon rises just above the horizon, at which point it will appear its biggest and take on a golden hue,” according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac. “ … this full Moon will also be a spectacular supermoon.”
Though the name doesn’t come from the Moon taking on a pink hue, the OFA says April’s full moon corresponds with the early springtime phlox subulata’s bloom – also referred to as creeping phlox or moss phlox.
The second supermoon this year will be May 26, and its said super moons are bigger and much brighter than an average full moon.
