To honor and celebrate Lamar County Jailers during National Correctional Officer’s Week, May 7-13, an adoption event is underway.
Former President Ronald Reagan established this week on May 5, 1984. He saw the need to create a week for correctional officers to thank them for their services and celebrate their contributions to society. Often, they are to make sure the court orders are seen through and implemented.
Lamar County Adopt A Cop, Texas2A, American Towing & Recovery, and Load Trail have joined together to host the adoption that will see each of the 30 Lamar County jailers receive a personalized gift.
“Our mission is to recognize and show our appreciation for our local correctional officers who exemplify professionalism, integrity, and strength in the face of a difficult and often dangerous job,” said LC Adopt-A-Cop president Amanda Willows.
To adopt a jailer, its $25 and you can be pay through PayPal, Venmo, or at Lamar National Bank in Paris or Reno.
