Aaron Parker Elementary’s fourth-grade students in Mrs. Dana Boyden’s math and science class recently transformed their classroom into an operating room for a unique and engaging review activity. Dressed as surgeons, complete with masks and gloves, students participated in “Surgery Review Day,” an interactive event designed to reinforce key math and science concepts.
Working collaboratively in surgical teams, the young ‘doctors’ rotated through a series of specialized surgery stations. Each station presented academic ‘cases’ where students had to diagnose and ‘treat’ problems related to the math and science concepts they have been studying. This hands-on approach encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and active problem-solving.
The Surgery Review Day exemplifies Aaron Parker Elementary’s commitment to creative, student-centered learning experiences that make academics both meaningful and memorable.
