Representatives of the Choctaw Nation joined local officials in Paris on Wednesday for a joint meeting and community tour hosted by the Paris Economic Development Corporation.
The visit built on a relationship that began last month when local officials traveled to Durant to meet with the Choctaw Nation’s Economic Development and Business Development teams.
That meeting focused on learning more about the tribe’s economic development initiatives and exploring potential areas of collaboration.
Choctaw Nation Chief Gary Batton led the delegation to Paris, joined by members of the tribe’s Economic Development and Business Development teams. Paris resident and Choctaw tribal member Marion Hammil, who helped coordinate the original meeting in Durant also took part in the visit.
The day included a joint meeting and a tour of the Paris community, giving both sides the chance to exchange ideas and highlight the assets that make Paris and Lamar County attractive for business investment and long term economic growth.
Local officials expressed appreciation for the opportunity to host the Choctaw Nation delegation and said the visit marks another step in an ongoing conversation about future collaboration between the two communities.
