On Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, at approximately 12:41 a.m., Officers with the Paris Police Department were patrolling on Lamar Avenue when they observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1900 block of Lamar Avenue.
During the traffic stop, officers made contact with the driver and determined he had been consuming alcohol. Officers also located open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle, as well as a THC vape.
The driver was administered standardized field sobriety tests and subsequently placed under arrest after failing the tests. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container, a misdemeanor offense, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, 1–4 grams, a third-degree felony.
The driver was transported to the Paris City Jail, where he was booked and processed without incident, and later transported to the Lamar County Jail.
Officers made 22 traffic stops, 5 adult arrest, and answered 69 calls for service during this reporting period.
