On June 3, Officers responded to the 2900 block of North Main Street regarding an assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female victim who reported that her ex-boyfriend had bitten her on the arm during an argument. Officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s statement. The suspect, who remained on scene, was arrested and charged with Continuous Violence Against the Family, a Third-Degree Felony.
On June 3, Officers responded to the 2000 block of Cleveland Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim reported discovering her vehicle missing when she woke up that morning. She advised officers that the keys may have been left inside the vehicle. The vehicle was later located burned in Lamar County. The Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force is investigating the incident.
On June 4, Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of SW 7th Street in reference to a burglary of a residence. The investigation revealed that an ex-girlfriend unlawfully entered the apartment of her former boyfriend and his current girlfriend. The suspect allegedly poured gasoline inside the apartment and attempted to set it on fire while the victims were still inside. During the incident, the victims were also assaulted with a knife before the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Officers made 25 traffic stops, 3 adult arrests, and answered 76 calls for service during this reporting period.
