On Apr. 7, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 800 block of W. Sherman St. They made contact with City of Paris Code Enforcement Personnel who advised that they had orders to clear rubbish from the address and that the owner was on site armed with a firearm. Officers made contact with Jeff Joe Dunken (78) who was armed with a shotgun. Dunken had advised Code Enforcement Personnel that he would shoot them if they came on his property. Dunken repeated the threats to officers indicating he would shoot anyone coming on his property to clear the rubbish. After deescalation of the situation, Dunken surrendered his weapons to officers. Dunken was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked without further issue. Evidence was collected at the scene and several firearms were confiscated for safe keeping. The case is currently under investigation.
On Apr. 7, Officers were notified of a Burglary of Residence in the 10 block of NW 23rd. The known suspect was observed to kick in the door of the residence while the resident was away and enter the residence. The resident advised he could not find anything missing from the property at the time of the report. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect at his residence but were unsuccessful. The investigation will continue.
