Silas W. Taylor, 89, of Paris, formerly of Cunningham, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6th at First United Methodist Church Deport with Rev. Abby Strickland officiating. Burial will be made in Minter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Silas, the son of Harold Taylor and Pearl Hamby Taylor, was born Oct. 20, 1936, in Cunningham, TX. On Feb. 15, 1959, he married Nancy Juanita Wright, building 67 years of family and memories.
He graduated from Cunningham High School and East Texas State University. His career as a warehouse examiner with the US Department of Agriculture spanned more than 33 years before his retirement. During those years the couple lived in Enid, OK and Plainview, TX. Following his retirement in 1991, he moved back to Cunningham where he worked a job he enjoyed the most on the farm where he grew up. He and Juanita traveled and took many trips throughout the United States. Silas served his country with the United States National Guard and Reserves and stayed in touch with four Army buddies for 67 years. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church Deport.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Robert Taylor, J.M. Taylor, and Carolyn Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Wright Taylor, two children, Lynda Taylor Reagan and husband Tilman of Plainview and Larry Taylor and wife Stacy of Stillwater, OK, grandchildren, Stephanie Reagan Quintanar and husband Albert of Abilene, Laura Taylor Coleman and husband Emmett of Stillwater, OK, Robert Taylor and wife Emily of Oklahoma City, OK, and Luke Taylor of Moore, OK, four great grandchildren, Jacob and Haylee Quintanar and Molly and Mia Coleman along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Robert Taylor, Luke Taylor, Albert Quintanar, Jacob Quintanar, Emmett Coleman and Jimmy Taylor.
Honorary bearers will be: Dewayne Drinnon, O’Neal Drinnon, Weston Drinnon, Don Smith, and Allen Callahan.
The family thanks all the support staff at Springlake Assisted Living and Hospice Plus for the loving care provided during his time of need.
