On Jan. 16, Detectives with the Paris Police Department arrested Chaselen Christopher Hamilton (19) on a warrant for Burglary of a Building after locating him in the 1300 block of Sperry St.. Hamilton’s arrest was the culmination of an investigation of the burglary of a business which is located in the 1800 block of Bonham St. The incident was reported on January 13, 2026 after a suspect forced entry into the business and stole cash and property. Officers of the Patrol Division were able to identify the Hamilton based on previous contacts with him and worked in conjunction with Detectives to secure a warrant for his arrest. Hamilton was booked without incident and taken to county jail.
On Jan. 16, Officers responded to a security check in the 1800 block of Neathery in which a male, unknown to the caller was beating on her door. After obtaining a description of the suspect, who had left the scene, an officer was able to locate him in the 1300 block of Clarksville St. The subject attempted to elude the officer by entering a business there but was detained and identified as Jeremy Lynn Smith (46). Smith was observed to have a pipe protruding from his pants pocket of the type used to inhale methamphetamine. The officer requested the pipe and Smith eventually complied by handing it over. Officers located a plastic baggie of Methamphetamine pushed into the pipe. Smith was wanted in municipal court for two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as well as Fail to Appear. He was charged with the city warrants as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance. Smith was booked without incident.
On Jan. 16, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 2500 block of Lamar Avenue for an equipment violation. They made contact with the driver, Amari Devon Edwards (19), and a passenger. During questioning, Both subjects denied to having any type of illegal substances on their person. During a consensual search of their persons, Edwards was found to be in possession of a Cannabis Oil “Pen”, also known as a Cannabis “Vape”. Edwards was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was booked and placed in jail.
On Jan. 17, Jacob Brett Lashley (19), of Bells Texas, was stopped in the 2200 block of S. Collegiate for a vehicle equipment violation. Lashley was found to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage container as well as unopened alcoholic beverages. During subsequent questioning of Lashley, he admitted to having a nicotine vape and a THC vape on his person. The vapes were recovered and Lashley was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance for possession of the THC/Cannabis Vape. Due to Lashley being under 21 years of age, the alcoholic beverages were confiscated. He was booked without incident.
On Jan. 17, Officers responding to a disturbance in the 2400 block of Ballard Drive made contact with Fisher Kain McCoy (30) McCoy attempted to flee when officers arrived, but was located in his back yard. When making contact with McCoy, he was found to be attempting to conceal a vape pen containing THC in his pocket. McCoy identified the pen as “A weed pen” indicating he knew of it’s illegality. McCoy was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On Jan. 18, Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 700 block of Graham St. Contact was made with Barbara Jo Klutts (45). Klutts was found to be heavily intoxicated to the point where communication was difficult. Klutts was unable to perform field sobriety testing and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. It was later discovered that Klutts had two previous convictions for DWI and the charge was enhanced to Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More, a Felony. Klutts was booked and placed in jail.
On Jan. 19, Officers responded to a Harassment/Blackmail incident in the 2200 block of Bella Vista. A victim advised that he had been contacted online by a subject claiming to be a female on an app known as Discord. The female had requested that the victim to send them nude photos, but he refused. The female then requested a picture of the victims face, which he sent. The suspect then sent the victim back the picture of his face accompanied by a photo of someone else’s nude body and threatened to post the photo’s online, claiming it was the victim, if the victim did not pay the suspect money. The incident is under investigation.
Officers made 117 traffic stops, 20 adult arrest, and answered 333 calls for service during this reporting period.
