On Dec. 11, Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue in regards to a shoplifter. Store personnel gave a description of a subject who had just stolen several items and left the store heading East onto another parking lot. Officers located the subject and identified him as Giovanni Andrew Baymon (23) of Paris. Baymon was found to be in possession of the stolen items. Baymon became aggressive and after warning him several times, he was detained. Baymond resisted arrest by pulling away from officers and refusing to be handcuffed. He was eventually handcuffed and after refusing to walk to the patrol vehicle, was physically placed inside. Baymond was charged with Theft over 100.00 but under 750.00, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct. He was processed and transported to Lamar County Jail.
On Dec. 12, Tycorius Reshon Garvin (25) of Paris was arrested after being stopped in the 700 block of NW 7th. Garvin was found to have two outstanding felony warrants. One for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one for Assault Family Violence by Impeding Breath. During the arrest Garvin was found to be in possession of a handgun and marijuana. He was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana. He was booked and taken to county jail.
On Dec. 13, An officer attempted to stop a vehicle with expired registration in the 2600 block of N. Main. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and accelerated in an attempt to evade arrest. The driver was pursued to the 2000 block of Fitzhugh St. where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers checking the vehicle located four children in the vehicle. The children’s ages ranged from four years old to seven months. None of the children were secured by seatbelts. Family members were contacted and picked up the children. The suspect, identified as Stedmon Darnell Fentress (33) of Paris, was later located in the 1100 block of Clement Road. He was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Evading Arrest, Abandoning or Endangering a Child, and Possession of Marijuana. Fentress was found to have an outstanding warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Fentress was treated at a medical facility for exposure and upon release transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On Dec. 13, Officers were sent to an assault call in the 2100 block of Bonham St. The victim, who had non-life threating injuries, advised that he had invited a known subject to his residence and later had asked her to leave. The suspect then refused. When the victim attempted to physically remove the suspect from his residence, she picked up a knife and cut him on the arm. The suspect left prior to officers arrival and could not be located. Case is under investigation.
On Dec. 13, Officers responded to a Burglary of Habitation call in the 200 block of SE 16th. The victim and witnesses advised that a known suspect, the father of the victim’s child, entered the residence without permission and without any right to be there. The suspect, who was intoxicated, then assaulted his ex-girlfriend by pinning her against the wall and then by striking her in the abdomen. The victim is expecting another child, a fact known to the suspect. The suspect then made threats to other witnesses present but left the scene when police were contacted. The incident is under investigation.
Officers made 66 traffic stops, 11 adult arrest, and answered 281 calls for service during this reporting period.
