The inaugural Lamar County First Responders BBQ Challenge is scheduled for Oct. 4 at the Lamar County Fairgrounds, with proceeds benefiting a local resident battling breast cancer.
The family-friendly event will be serving up BBQ to the public between 12-2 p.m.
Entry for contestants is free, however no professional teams can enter and no pellet or electric cooking.
Contestants must have 60lbs of meat (combination brisket, ribs, pork and chicken) and it will be checked on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
All meat/entries must be prepared and served at your site on Oct. 4 and sites must be kept clean.
A 5-gallon bucket filled with bleach water and a rag must be available.
Judging begins at 11 a.m.
