GrantWorks, Inc. is working on behalf of Lamar County and is eager to assist those affected by the Nov. 4 storms with housing reconstruction, which may be available for those persons of low/moderate income who own their home. The Red Cross has recovery resources available to for those in need. They have a Reception Center set up at the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ in Paris, 3535 Lamar Ave. Those impacted by the tornadoes can apply to qualify for damage assistance at that location from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., now through Friday. To make an appointment please call 1-800-Red-Cross 1-800-733-2767.
Clothing, coats, shoes, and other donations for those affected by the tornadoes are available at City Square, 2515 Bonham St. in Paris, Monday-Friday, 9a-4p. They are not able to accept any more clothing donations at this time. Also, if you would like to volunteer, City Square could use extra help organizing and distributing donations.
If you want to volunteer for cleanup and other areas of need, the official Volunteer Resource Center is located at the old Shell Station Truck Stop, 2805 N. Main Street in Paris, Monday-Friday, 8a-5p. The hotline during business hours is 903-495-8722.
