Former Wolfe City Police officer Shaun Lucas was found not guilty of murder in the 2020 shooting death of Jonathan Price, a Hunt County Jury found.
Testifying in his own defencse, Lucas said attempted to detain Price for public intoxication.
According to a release from the Texas Rangers, who investigate the 2020 case, when Lucas attempted to detain Price he “resisted in a non-threatening posture” and began walking away.
“Officer Lucas deployed his TASER, followed by discharging his service weapon striking Price,” said Texas Rangers.
According to Price’s family at the time of the incident, he was attempting to break up a domestic violence fight between a couple.
At about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Lucas was release from custody.
