While Lamar County has many wonderful family-friendly events throughout the year, the is no doubt the Annual Paris Balloon and Music Festival is a highlight for most.

Held at the Lamar County Fairgrounds this Friday and Saturday night, there will be plenty of fun to be had for the entire family.

“We will have a wide variety of really cool market vendors, food vendors, live music, helicopter rides, monster truck rides, a newly added carnival with games and rides in the kids zone, tethered balloon rides, the National Guard will be bringing the rock climbing wall and fun activities, and we will have a beautiful balloon glow at dusk,” said event organizers.

Common Ground and The Rhythmaddics will take to the on Friday night and The Slightly Used Band and Rue 82 will be jamming out Saturday night.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 6:00pm.

One of the biggest highlights for many is the balloon glow that happens at dusk.

“It’s so much fun to watch as the balloons inflate and all the work the crew put in to get the balloon to stand up. Once they are standing up the yellow caution tape line will drop and guests are encouraged to go out on the field and check out the balloons up close! The pilots are so friendly and it will be a great chance to take some pictures.”

General parking will enter the fairgrounds on the north side of the fairgrounds on Clement Road. The south entrance is reserved for vendors and VIP Sponsors only and will require a parking pass.

Due to safety factors with the balloons pets are not allowed into the event. Coolers will also be prohibited but there will be plenty of delicious food and beverages on site.

“Early Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning at 6:30 a.m the balloons will start setting up for the balloon launch. This activity is free to come out and watch.”

The launch will be at the Fairgrounds this year also. Wind speeds are a factor in the balloon activities and delays or cancellations are possible. Safely is always a high priority.

Tickets into the event are $5. For more information on the 4th Annual Paris Balloon and Music Festival, click here
