Enjoy some of the best BBQ around and show your support for someone who paid the ultimate sacrifice, Texas State Trooper Jeffrey Nichols at the 3rd Annual Trooper Jeffrey Don Nichols BBQ Cook-Off.
This Saturday, Oct. 19, the Love Civic Center Pavilion will be bursting with all smells of BBQ delight at the event that is held in honor of Texas State Trooper Jeffrey Don Nichols, who lost his life in the line of duty on Mar. 26, 2016.
After the tragic accident, the Jeffrey Don Nichols Scholarship Fund was founded, and all proceeds from this event will go towards the scholarship fund.
Not only will there be plenty of barbeque on the day for you to indulge in, but there will also be both a live and silent auction as well.
Plates will be ready for the public at 11 a.m. and will be available through till 1 p.m.; it will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10-years old.
Trophies will be awarded to the teams that finish in first, second or third place in all categories;
Class 1- Brisket Cook-Off Teams
Class 2- Rib Cook-Off Teams
Class 3- Chicken Cook-Off Teams
Class 4- Pork Cook-Off Teams
Class 5- Bean Cook-Off Teams (anything goes)
Class 6- Cooks Specialty (Dessert category)
Team entries to compete in the event are being taken up until Oct. 17.
