A new, 200-acre mixed-use planned development along Jefferson Road in S.E. Paris was the topic during a Thursday night joint meeting between Paris City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission to see if the project should move forward.
Chairman Chad Lindsey called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., and a presentation was given for the new 200-acre planned development.
The development, Forestbrook Estates, is expected to include a combination of single-family, multi-family, and commercial uses. Parks, a Trail de Paris connection, a central traffic circle (roundabout) and nine acres of land to be donated to Paris ISD for a new school are all also included within the plan.
The development team consists of Nathan Spaulding and Tesina Painter of Strata Commercial out of Frisco and David Recht of DHR Engineering out of Irving.
Council members and commissioners voiced their support of the project and said the city would construct a new thoroughfare to connect S. Collegiate St. with S.E. Loop 286 – an anticipated cost of about $7 million.
“I think this would reflect the City Council is actually wanting to work with developers,” said District 4 Councilmember Mihir Pankaj at the end of council’s meeting.
The City Council is expected to pass a resolution showing its support of this development during tonight’s city council meeting, 107 E. Kaufman St. at 5 p.m.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is expected to possibly discuss the Development at their meeting in May.
