Deport Mayor Mark John Francis has called a special meeting for council members for Monday, Aug 3, regarding the funding for a new water tower.
“For a project that has seemed out of reach for decades, I have finally made a breakthrough with the help of Senator Hughes, Ark-Tex Council of Governments, and Judge Williamson,” he announced on his Facebook page.
Francis says the breakthrough comes to secure funding for a new 100,000-gallon water tower for the City of Deport with work to begin the procurement can start after approval given by council; after the council gives me the green light to enter the acquisition, feasibility, and environmental studies required-by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Texas Water Development Board.
“With the two new major solar farms and the Hwy 271 expansion, Deport is projected to grow exponentially if we make the most of this moment. Our meeting will be live-streamed due to the COVID pandemic and the limitations of attendance size set forth by the Governor,” he said.
