Shawn Adam Carrouth, 45, of Bagwell was arrested on Saturday, July 18, after Paris police responded to a road rage incident in the 2600 blk of Lamar Ave. just after 10 a.m.
Officers spoke with a 22-year-old male victim who reported he had been involved in an incident with another male. He said Carrouth produced a pistol and threatened him with it.
According to police reports, the victim stated that Carrouth was driving a black Ford pickup and accused him of “cutting him off” while at the intersection of Collegiate Dr. and Lamar Ave.
The victim then told officers he pulled into the convenience store in the 2600 block of Lamar Ave. when Carrouth followed suit and exited his vehicle. He then told the victim to exit his car so they could fight.
When the victim attempted to drive away, reports said Carrouth then retrieved a pistol from his vehicle and ran towards the victim, threatening to shoot the victim.
Carrouth later met with officers at the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and was arrested. He was subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was later transferred into the Lamar County Jail.
