W R Caviness, age 95, of Paris, TX, passed away on December 23, 2024. “Dub “was born October 17, 1929 to parents, Walter and Naomi Coursey Caviness, in Telephone, Texas.
He was born into a family of farmers, but farm life was not the life for W R so after graduating high school, W R enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. Following his military service he worked as a Supervisor for El Paso Natural Gas Company, a role he held for over 42 years.
It was in Altus, Oklahoma that Dub met the love of his life, Donna Rae King. The two were married shortly thereafter and remained married until his death. The couple had two children, Wyndell and Regina all of whom he lovingly cared for and invested in. He even enjoyed coaching Little League and Pony League baseball.
Somewhere along the way, Dub decided that maybe farming wasn’t that bad after all. He enjoyed planting a seed and watching it grow. He loved his John Deere tractor and he liked hard work until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He liked to watch the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and playing 42.
W R is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Wyndell R.
