North Lamar High School senior Tyler Antonio-Silva officially signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University–Texarkana, where he will play football and major in accounting.
Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and teammates, Tyler celebrated a milestone that reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication both on and off the field. He is the son of Heather Latson and Pascual Antonio-Silva and the brother of Tony Delarosa and Josiah Antonio.
He is also supported by grandparents Clark and Virginia Foster and Leslie and Gary Templeton, along with his aunt, Hope Foster, who was present to celebrate the special day.
When asked about the biggest influences in his life, Tyler shared that his mom and dad have always been constant sources of support, with his mother faithfully attending every scrimmage, game, and event. He also honored his late stepfather, Marko Latson, as one of his greatest inspirations.
“My largest influence was my late stepdad Marko Latson,” Tyler said. “He was always ready to celebrate my victories and help me get over the losses, no matter what.”
One of Tyler’s favorite memories as a Panther came during a thrilling win at Community, capped off by a walk-off field goal during their homecoming game — a moment that will forever stand out in his North Lamar career.
As he looks ahead to the next chapter, Tyler offered heartfelt advice to younger athletes:
“Focus on your grades. Focus on your grades. Focus on your grades. So many athletes overlook their grades, and when it comes to eligibility checks, college recruiting, and scholarships, it is imperative that you maintain good grades. As well as with your grades, another piece of advice is to never give up. Losses are very hard, but keep perfecting your craft and people will notice all of the work you are putting in.”
Tyler expressed gratitude to those who helped him along the way. “I’d love to thank God for blessing me and helping me get a step closer to making my dreams a reality. I’d also love to thank my mom, my dad, all my family, all the coaches and teammates that helped push me along the way. Thank you North Lamar for all the support throughout my journey.”
Head Football Coach Carlos Guevara praised Tyler’s character and commitment.
“Tyler is the perfect example of what a student-athlete should look like,” Guevara said. “He shows great character on and off the field and does things the right way. We could not be more proud of him here; he has truly earned the opportunity to go play at the next level. We are excited to see what the future holds for this young man and it was an honor to have him walk through these doors!”
North Lamar ISD proudly congratulates Tyler Antonio-Silva on this incredible achievement and looks forward to watching him continue to soar at Texas A&M–Texarkana.
