On Aug. 8, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 2300 block of Bonham St. for an expired registration. The driver refused to stop for the officer’s lights and siren and continued west on Bonham St to the 3400 block where the driver eventually stopped at a residence. The driver, Kacey Dean Langston, advised the officer that he was aware the officer was attempting to stop him. Langston was placed under arrest for Evading Arrest in a vehicle, a Felony. He was booked without incident.
On Aug. 7, Officers received a report of someone using a stolen debit card to make purchases at a local business. The investigating officer reviewed video from the store and was able to obtain a description of the suspect as well as the suspect vehicle. On August 8, 2024 at approximately 03:20 the investigating officer located the suspect vehicle at a local motel and made contact with the owner/driver, who was identified as Eric Steven Lomelin, who was questioned and admitted to illegal use of a credit card without consent of the owner. The items purchased illegally were located in the suspect’s possession and recovered. Lomelin was arrested on view and charged with Credit Card Abuse of an Elderly Individual, a Felony. He was processed without incident.
On Aug. 7, Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar in regards to a subject in crisis. The induvial, later identified as Jeremiah John Rater, was reportedly out in traffic and was acting peculiarly. Officers made contact with Rater, who appeared to be under the influence of some substance. He was arrested for Public Intoxication due to endangering himself. A subsequent search of his clothing revealed pills identified as controlled substances. Rater was also charged with possession of a controlled substance X 2 and was transported and booked without further incident.
On Aug. 7, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of SE 17th for an equipment violation. They made contact with the driver and a passenger, Eddie Dean Roberts. A consensual search of Roberts located methamphetamine in a plastic baggie concealed in his clothing. Roberts was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was booked and taken to county jail.
On Aug. 7, the department was notified of a Fraud incident occurring in the 10 block of NW 27th. The victim had been in the process of purchasing a house from a known suspect and had paid the individual a down payment. The victim then found that the suspect did not actually own or have authorization to sell the house. The investigation will continue.
Officers made 18 traffic stops, 7 adult arrest, and answered 94 calls for service for this reporting period.
