One person was killed and another two critically injured in a three-vehicle wreck on Highway 121 in Fannin County.
According to a preliminary investigation by Texas Department of Public Safety, 69-year old Debra Matthews of Frisco, Texas, was traveling northbound in a 2024 Toyota RAV4 around 8:35 a.m. on May 8.
Traveling southbound was 26-year old Lonnie Gustin of Plano, Texas, followed by 38-year old Jason Dawber of Bonham, Texas.
“The driver of vehicle 1 (Matthews) swerved to the right to avoid collision with a vehicle making a left-hand turn, losing control, driving into the southbound lanes, and striking vehicle 2 (Gustin). Vehicle 2 was then hit by vehicle 3 (Dawber). Vehicle 1 caught on fire post-crash,” said DPS.
Matthews was pronounced deceased on the scene and both Gustin and Dawber were transported to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available.
