On May 10, an officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of Bonham St. due to a traffic violation. The vehicle’s driver, Rubi Antunez (32) refused to stop, even when the officer activated both lights and siren. The vehicle was pursued to the 1900 block of Bonham St where Antunez finally stopped the vehicle. She then refused to exit the vehicle and had to be physically removed from the vehicle. Antunez was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, a felony.
On May 9, Officers stopped Mario Luis Ruiz (31) in the 10 block of NE 13th St. for a moving violation. It was discovered that Ruiz’ license was expired. Ruiz displayed erratic behavior during the stop by acting nervous and attempting to watch officers at all time. He was asked to step from the vehicle for officer safety. Ruiz refused. Officers then attempted to remove Ruiz from the vehicle, which he resisted. Ruiz was eventually removed from the vehicle and charged with Driving with expired license and Resisting Arrest. During the vehicle inventory marijuana and methamphetamine were discovered in the vehicle. Ruiz was subsequently charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.
On May 10, Officers took a report of a burglary of a business in the 100 block of SW 1st. An unknown suspect forcibly gained entry though a locked door of the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and caused approximately 500.00 worth of damage to the door. Fingerprints and other evidence were recovered at the scene. The incident occurred sometime between 20:00 on May the 9th and 01:30 on the 10th. The investigation is underway.
