The 61st Annual Paris Rodeo is here, with arena lights turning on tonight Aug 7 and tomorrow Aug 8. The rodeo will feature cowboys and cowgirls from all over and will converge onto the Red River Valley Fair Grounds.
“We have some big names in rodeo coming to this year’s event,” said Paris Rodeo official Sharon Barnes.
Not only will there be circuit champions, but Barnes also stressed there were a handful of National Finals Rodeo qualifiers on the draws list.
Paris Rodeo officials also recommended that spectators wear masks masks and to practice social distancing where they can. The guidelines being enforced are in line with CDC event guidelines.
The rodeo kicks off at 8 p.m. each night, and tickets are $10 for adults. Tickets for children between six and 12 years old are $5 each. Tickets are available at the gate.
Gate tickets and concession purchases are cash-only transactions. Vendors will also set up at the northside of the arena each night.
Events each night include Bull Riding, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc, Ranch Bronc, Calf Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Break Away Roping, Junior Barrels, Calf Scramble, Double Mugging, and Mutton Busting at 7:30 p.m. before the grand entry at 8 p.m. each night.
Friday night’s performance will see children under 12 years old get free entry with every adult gate ticket purchased.
Spectators will also get to see the crowning of the new Paris Rodeo Queen and Princess during Friday’s performance.
The Powderly Volunteer Fire Department will be assisting with the parking for the rodeo both nights, which will include a side-by-side to help with getting to the gate for spectators that need assistance.
This year’s event is brought to you by Paris Ford-Lincoln as the main sponsor and dozens of local businesses.
“It’s going to be back-to-back rodeo action Friday and Saturday nights. We are very excited about this year’s event and look forward to everyone coming down,” said Barnes.
