The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be ordered by the Trump administration to release federal incomes taxes despite the ongoing partial government shutdown.

“Tax refunds will go out,” Russell T. Vought, acting director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, told reporters in an afternoon briefing.

It is unclear how that might happen and how that might impact other IRS operations.

Now nearing the third week of Trump’s government shutdown, the question of the IRS’ contingency plan for federal refunds weighed heavily on the minds of Americans banking on receiving those refunds in a timely manner.

As far as its known, the IRS is still only active with approximately 12% of its workforce due to the shutdown in our government.

It is unknown whether the active workforce will be increased in order to meet the physical demands of releasing tax refunds.

Either way, rest assured America, get those taxes filed and receive your refunds, courtesy of your government.
