UPDATE:  Although kept in the hospital for observation, the skydiver was released from hospital this afternoon.

One man is recovering in a Plano hospital after colliding mid-air Saturday afternoon while skydiving over Fannin County.

Management with Skydive Spaceland in Whitewright said that two licensed and experienced skydivers collided while in free fall over Fannin County.

According to officials, one of the skydivers was unconscious upon impact and landed under is backup parachute.

He was said to have regained consciousness before being airlifted to Plano hospital.

“The injured skydiver has around 350 skydives and the uninjured skydiver has around 1500 skydives,” said general manager Ben Nelson. “Both men were jumping their own equipment and they were flying wingsuits, and they had made six jumps together with other jumpers earlier in the day.”

The second person involved sustained no injuries.

Officials say weather was not a factor in the collision.
