Royce Lynn McDaniel, 84, of Sumner passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Price, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to service from 1:30 until 2:30.

Lynn was born at home in the Garretts Bluff community the son of Joseph Alex and Effie Leona Cooper McDaniel. He married Howardene Chamberlain in Garretts Bluff Baptist Church on October 12, 1957. He graduated from PJC and East Texas State University majoring in Agriculture. He was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture for 37 years. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Garretts Bluff Masonic Lodge and Direct Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children Tim McDaniel, Patti McDaniel; brothers, Bobby, James and Billy McDaniel.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Howardene McDaniel; daughter Lori Ann Malone and husband Carey of Paris; grandson, Curt Malone; and a special nephew Ross McDaniel and wife Tammy and niece Mattie Hullinger-DeVore and her son Aidan DeVore.

Pallbearers will be Larry Roberts, Kent Erwin, Robert Moore, Dolvin Parson, Montie Parson, Willie Caldwell, Junior Moore and J.R. Shannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Sanders, Loyd Thompson, and W.D. Chamberlain.

If desired, memorials may be made to the North Lamar Education Foundation in memory of Tim McDaniel.
