The Rotary Club of Paris United recently announced and welcomed their new board members including the new club president.

“During the past year the Paris Rotary Club inducted several new members and outgoing President Andy Cobb installed a corporate membership policy that invited current member’s coworkers under their business name to attend Rotary meetings, programs, and service projects,” explained new President Alex Fowzer.

The club has already raised over $15,000 during their first ever Bingo event fundraiser.

“These funds were used to continue the success of our many programs such as by providing dictionaries to elementary school students of Lamar County and a project that gets students a free dental exam by local Dentists,” Fowzer explained

Continuing the clubs success during the first part of the year Fowzer said they were also able to provide five high school seniors scholarships to attend Paris Junior College this coming Fall.

“The club is also involved in several of the local non-profit organizations such as the Salvation Army, Dylan’s Drivers, and many others,” Fowzer said.

Although Fowzer has only just stepped into his new position as president, he already said he has a handful of goals in mind for the club to achieve during his 2019/20 year.

“We want to increase membership, service projects and also design a project of our own that will benefit the community here in Lamar County,” he stated.

Fowzer alongside his board invites anyone interested in joining the Rotary Club of Paris United to stop by and attend one of their weekly lunch programs every Thursday at noon in the ballroom of the Paris Junior College student center.
