Not every person fits every church and not every church provides for every person. Now thanks to Billy D. Mitchell and his calling to serve, he is getting ready to launch Renew Church in Paris with a Vision Mixer event set for Feb. 22.
“We will be a non-denominational, non-traditional, multicultural, and multigenerational modern Christian church,” said Mitchell.
Mitchell, who is a Paris native, started his life off in Los Angeles before his family moved to Oklahoma and then finally settled in Paris. Graduating from Paris High School, Mitchell has embraced his faith and the Lord through all that he has accomplished and now believes that it has lead him to be the lead pastor of this new church.
“I was licensed to preach through St. Pauls Baptist here in Paris back in 2004,” he said.
And through his work as a professional Gospel singer, he says that he, along with his family, are excited to be back in Paris and launching Renew Church Texas.
“I hope that we have a great turn out to our Vision Mixer later this month, I think it will give people a good sense of what we are all about and perhaps find a home with a church that fits their beliefs,” he said.
Restore, Revive, Renew, Mitchell says when it comes to what his church embodies.
“My hope is that we can reach people who need us or need the Lord and have become a little lost,” he explained.
Mitchell believes that 2020 is the year for everyone and it’s the year where we can all start fresh. And what better way to re-introduce himself to his home town than with the Vision Mixer to kick-off a year of celebrating God and his work.
The Vision Mixer will be the meet and greet to the community for the new church that will hopefully grow into the non-traditional place of worship, which will also become the sanctuary to those who are needing it.
“Our first event, the Vision Mixer, I hope will be a big hit for locals to enjoy,” he said.
The mixer will be held on Feb. 22 at 123 Clarksville St. at 3- 4 p.m.
“I hope that people can come down, eat a little, visit a little and just have a good time,” he said.
Then in April, Mitchell looks to launch the church with their first official service, which he says will take place at the Love Civic Center until they can find a permanent home.
“We are actively looking for a building, and we hope that it won’t take too long to find one. But until then, we are delighted and fortunate to have a place for our services once we officially kick-off,” Mitchell explained.
