“We realize that some of this information has already been shared on social media,”  Sgt. Jeff Haines. said in the announcement. “However, we have procedures in place to make sure that next of kin is officially notified before we release victim information and this was the reason for the delay. We appreciate everyone’s understanding on this matter.”

Byron Craven’s parents told NBC 5 Craven went to Greenville with his cousin to celebrate his 23rd birthday on Saturday.

The Cravens said they last spoke to their son before he left their home in Arlington on Saturday.

“This was a homecoming/Halloween event that was not sanctioned by A&M Commerce,” said Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks. “There are 16 total injured with 12 sustaining gunshot wounds and two male victims deceased.”

At least 14 other people were injured durng the shooting which reportedly had over 750 in attendance.

Sheriff Meeks said even with the suspect on the loose, he does not believe the community is in danger. He said the suspect appeared to target one individual and the rest of the shootings were random. He said the owner of the venue is cooperating.
