After months of preparation and planning, a few locals finally had their moment to shine competing in the Red Bull Soapbox Race in Dallas over the weekend.

Dick and Chet, aka Jay Ryan and Broadway, were accompanied by their crew Taylor Pickens and Casey Ressler, who pulled out all the stops to make sure they would capture the attention of not only the judges but the crowd as well.

“We had an expert dirt track driver Danny Booth from Danny Booth Ironworks build the car for us. He is truly a magician!! Russell had Ross from Dirty Deeds motorsports build the wife for us!” said Broadway.

This international race this year was held at the Austin Ranch in The Colony, Texas; which brought the small community to life with the excitement of the soapbox derby.

From unique challenges on the course and the theatrical executions of teams on the course, all racers both experienced and amateur truly got the crowd pumping.

According to Red Bull, vehicles throughout the years have ranged from realistic replicas to anything the imagination can conjure up.

“We had a blast, it was truly a bucket list style event for us,” said Broadway, adding that the team finished 4th out of 47 registered on the day.

“The whole team at Maximum Elevation Off-Road are so excited,” he said.

Red Bull has held more than 100 soapbox races around the world since the first one in Brussels in the year 2000.
