President Trump declares Wednesday National Day of Mourning for Bush || President George H.W. Bush 1924 – 2018

Former President George H.W. Bush passed away Friday, November 30th at the age of 94.

“Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro, and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George H. W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens,” said George W. Bush on his Facebook page.

The White House said President Donald Trump designated Wednesday as a National Day of Mourning.

“It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of one of America’s greatest points of light,” said Trump in a statement released on Saturday.

”I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President George H.W. Bush. I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us in this solemn observance.”  

Bush will lie in state in the rotunda at the US Capital until Wednesday morning with an arrival ceremony, involving both the House and Senate, being held at 4:45 p.m. this afternoon.

On Wednesday, family and friends will gather at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, for an 11 a.m. ET memorial service.

The former president will also lie in repose at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston from 7:45 p.m. ET Wednesday until 7 a.m. ET Thursday. A second memorial service for Bush will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. ET Thursday.

Bush will then be taken by a motorcade procession to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, where he will be laid to rest

The arrival ceremony at Texas A&M University will be at 4:45 p.m. ET and will be followed by another ceremony and the interment at 5:15 p.m. ET at the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum.
