While Paris Fire Department was working a previous structure fire, available personnel were dispatched to another at 456 NW 14th Street at about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Once on scene, the crew from Quint 4 reported a “well-involved house on fire.” They then began attacking the fire in a defensive mode – a maneuver used when crews are unable to fight the fire from inside.
Engine 1 crew was able to connect to a hydrant on Cherry Street, and Engine 3 and Rescue 1 crews helped with attacking the fire. The crews from Quint 4 set up the engine’s ladder and began fighting the fire from above.
Once the fire was knocked down, crews then began an interior attack to bring the fire under control.
Crews were on scene for about two hours and 20 minutes before clearing. While the cause is undetermined at this time, it remains under investigation.
