Many law enforcement agencies use Facebook as a way to communicate with the community they protect. They post important public service announcements, and get useful tips from citizens.
But the Paris Police Department is, again, imploring people to not use Facebook Messenger to contact them in emergency situations.
“We wish to thank all those who regularly comment on our postings or provide different types of information to the police department through our Facebook Page. Over the last few weeks, we have received some messages regarding crimes in progress or that had just taken place and reported on the FB messaging service,” said the department.
They said the page is not monitored 24/7 and they would rather serve the citizens of Lamar County by answering a phone call rather than reading a message several hours later.
“Please, if you have something going on that is in need of police attention, give us a call at 903-784-6688, option “0” or if it is an emergency, call or text to 9-1-1.”
