Paris High School students have made it to state finals of the Texas Associations of Future Educators (TAFE) after qualifying in the Area 6 contest held at Texas A&M University – Texarkana.
PHS had five students compete at the area level and three students will be advancing to the state level.
The competition saw outstanding performances from the students who are now preparing for the State contest, which is scheduled to take place from February 16-19.
The PHS chapter sponsor, Karen Downs, has expressed pride in the hard work and dedication demonstrated by her students.
It is no small feat to make it to the state finals, and the students and their mentor should be commended for their efforts.
The competition is a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents and passion for education.

– State Qualifier- Stephany Gutierrez-Hernandez in Children’s Literature K-3
– State Qualifier- Takoda Chambers in Public Speaking

– Seleen Dacus- Teacher Created Material
According to the TAFE website, “The Texas Association of Future Educators is a co-curricular statewide non-profit (501 c3) student organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. The organization was created in 1984 to provide the best and brightest high school and middle school students in Texas with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education.”
