At about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, an individual wanted in connection to an Aug. 3, 2021, murder in Ladonia turned themself in to the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.
Carmen (Taylor) Cuba, connected to JC Campbell’s murder on Aug. 3, 2021, was processed into the Fannin County Jail without incident, charged with murder and a bond of $100,000 was set, according to Ladonia Police Department.
Cuba also faces a second, unrelated charge from Colin County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle with a bond of $15,000.
At about 12:05 a.m. on Aug. 3, 2021, Fannin County Deputies and Ladonia Police Department responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls referencing a shooting at the Texoma Housing Authority complex in Ladonia. Once on scene in the 600 block of Paris Street, deputies found JC Campbell with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to officers, witnesses on scene stated a suspect had a brief, verbal disagreement with Campbell. Witnesses told officers Justin Cuba then walked to his 4-door, tan-colored sedan with temporary dealer tags, retrieved a handgun, approached Campbell and allegedly began shooting.
Officers said Campbell received multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Carmen (Taylor) Cuba drove the two away from the scene, and officers said the two had been on the run since.
U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force, Texas Rangers and the Ladonia Police Department continue to locate the alleged shooter, Justin Cuba. Law enforcement encourages anyone with information regarding the case to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
