Patsy Goforth, 92 of Paris, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Funeral services have been set for Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Wideman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pyles Cemetery.
Everyone in the Unity and Direct communities knew her as Granny Patsy, just as they knew her mother as Granny Jordan. She was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on December 2, 1933 to Robert and Fannie Brown Jordan. She married Benjamin Harrison Goforth on September 23, 1950. She & Ben raised 5 kids with a stern hand and a look that said, “y’all behave.” She was a caregiver to Ben for almost a year, keeping him at home because she was determined to keep him with her as long as possible.
She retired after 23 years at Earthgrains. During her early retirement she was on the go, taking trips with her friends and relatives. Her daughters took her to Alabama several times to see the ocean. She traveled to New Mexico, North Carolina and Graceland. She was always ready to meet relatives at Pat Mayse Lake or Cedar Creek with a pan of brownies.
Everyone gathered on Sundays for her fried chicken. Every holiday, her table was always full of kids and food. She enjoyed sewing and made many beautiful quilts for all her kids, grandkids, and other family members. She was a member of Direct Baptist Church.
Patsy is survived by her children, Cathy Sims and husband (Allen), Joe Goforth (Nita), Laura Garrett, Benny Goforth (Karen); 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Bobby Jordan, Roy Jordan, Larry Jordan; sisters, Linda Gibson, Donna Woodley, Jennifer Bradshaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ben; parents, Robert and Fannie Jordan; in-laws, Roy and Nova Goforth and all of Ben’s brothers (surviving sister-in-law Loretta Harrison), son, Billy and his wife, Ronnie, grandson, Sunny; brother, Jimmy and wife, Fanny; brother in-law, Charleston; sisters in-law, Jane and Ida Jordan
