Paris has caught the eye of Hollywood film producers and plans are now underway for not only an annual Film Festival but a 36,000 sq. ft. full-fledged film production studio.

Award-winning producer/director Noor Naghmi and screenwriter/director Lisa Mikitarian, “fell in love” with Paris while filming a documentary in January with local cardiologist Dr. A.J. Hashmi.

“This community has unique resources available to the film community and is something Hollywood producers are searching for,” said Naghmi.

“The goal is to partner with the community in order to promote the industry, education, and enjoyment of film in Paris and the surrounding area.”

At a private event on Tuesday evening, plans to convert the former Phillips lighting building on Clarksville Street to a fully-functioning studio which will house the all-new Paris Texas Film Office was announced.

“The film production studio will provide jobs and economic impact for the area for decades to come,” explained Naghmi. “This important undertaking along with the annual film festival could solidly cement Paris as a film destination not only in Texas but across the country.”

In addition to the studio, a Film Festival with the goal of attracting filmmakers from all over the world is set to kick off April of 2020

“Our early focus is on utilizing downtown spaces for the exhibit,” said assistant film festival director James Wyatt. “Both the festival and studio will bring not only notoriety and recognition to the community but it could have a significant economic impact in the future.”

PTFO also plans on partnering with local colleges to set up industry related courses and programs for those seeking education and experience in film production.

Local representatives who will be a part of the film office and festival include James Wyatt, Becki Norment, Ashlea Mantton, Riza Hashmi, Cristi Burns, and Marcella and John Brockman.
