The Paris Independent School District Board of Trustees appointed a new director at its meetings held June 18.  John McCullough will be Director of Career and Technical Education and Director of Secondary Education.

McCullough has more than 25 years of education experience. He started his career as a teacher and coach in Jacksonville from 1993-99 and then held the same position at Sulphur Springs ISD until 2005. From 2005-07, he served as an assistant principal at Sulphur Springs before becoming the high school’s principal in 2007, a position he held through 2011. He served as the superintendent of Sulphur Bluff ISD for three years and superintendent at North Lamar ISD for three years.

McCullough received a bachelors degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a masters degree from the University of Texas in Tyler. He earned mid-management and superintendent certification at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

“I am excited to have this opportunity.  I appreciate Mr. Jones and the Board for giving me the opportunity to do this, said McCullough.  “I am looking forward to working with the staff and students of Paris ISD.”

“John McCullough’s experience and knowledge make him an ideal candidate to lead our CTE and secondary education departments.  Our teachers and students will benefit from his ideas,” superintendent Paul Jones said.
