Paris Regional Health’s Labor & Delivery unit is enhancing the childbirth experience for local families through new equipment, patient comfort resources and staff education opportunities made possible by a recent grand prize award from Birth and Body Empowerment LLC (BBE), a Texas-based obstetric education and clinical consulting organization.
Earlier this year, Paris Regional Health was selected as the grand prize winner of BBE’s Mother’s Day Giveaway, earning a comprehensive package of labor support equipment, educational resources and clinical training designed to support mothers, babies and the healthcare professionals who care for them.
The award package includes specialized mobility equipment, clinical peanut balls and birth balls, obstetric TENS units, sensory-support tools, patient comfort resources and customized educational materials for use throughout the labor and delivery process. The hospital also received clinical reference materials and will host an upcoming hands-on educational workshop for Labor & Delivery staff, providing continuing education opportunities and additional training focused on labor support techniques.
“Our Labor & Delivery team is committed to providing exceptional care and a positive birth experience for every family we serve,” said April Mauldin, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services. “We’re excited to add these resources and educational opportunities that further support patient comfort, mobility and personalized care during labor and delivery.”
The enhancements are already being utilized within the Labor & Delivery unit, providing additional tools and resources to support patients throughout their birth journey. The award-winning package was designed to help hospitals expand access to non-pharmacological comfort measures, labor positioning resources and mobility-focused support for laboring
mothers.
In addition to equipment and patient resources, the award includes an eight-hour clinical workshop led by BBE Founder Samantha Henry, BSN, RN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, C-OBE, APBT, and focused on labor biomechanics, patient positioning and evidence-informed labor support practices. The training will provide continuing education hours for participating clinical staff
“This recognition reflects our continuing commitment to investing in women’s health services and ensuring families have access to high-quality care close to home,” said Mauldin. “We are grateful for the opportunity to bring these additional resources to our patients and team.”
